Get to know the Aware team: Shabu Thomas - Senior Salesforce Consultant
What do you do at Aware Services and what led you to your career?
As a Senior Salesforce Consultant with 12 years of Salesforce technical experience and after 21 years spent in IT, I’m very proud to be able to help mould technical solutions for many business scenarios.
I’m passionate about the world of coding. C++ triggered that passion and Salesforce boosted it. That passion led me to this career and drives my professional growth.
I’m also a visualiser. I like to visualise everything - a story or a technical issue - whatever it may be. This ability combined with my passion for coding helps me translate complex requirements into integrated Salesforce solutions that align with our clients’ processes and business needs.
What is your go-to productivity trick?
Looking for details. Planning well. Being humane.
Details can be friends and enemies at the same time. When visible, details are friends. But when hidden, details will make your project prone to errors and delays. Having the right amount of accurate insights enables me to make more informed decisions, and as a result, get projects done right the first time.
Also, a good plan and risk management are the backbone of the project success and essential for optimised productivity. This is because even if you have enough resources and time, your efforts will be in vain if you haven’t planned your activities well.
I also believe that good productivity comes from the way we communicate and treat each other. With the right mindset we are naturally better motivators, leaders and problem solvers. Our approach is critical in helping others make the most out of their skills, which results in higher team productivity.
What technology is currently exciting and why?
Google! From search through machine learning, Google is doing an excellent job in making our everyday lives easier.
Google map is one of the coolest technologies we are currently seeing. Before starting a journey, I switch on the street view mode and find the possible parking areas in my target location, which helps me save time.
Also, when typing a message in Gmail, Google’s AI will magically read your mind and give you content options. It’s amazing technology and I can’t wait to see what they will come up with next!
What is on your bucket list?
As I have said, I am a visualiser. I write short stories in my native Indian language Malayalam. I have been thinking for a long time to visualise one of my stories. I wrote a Facebook post about comparing life with a lift journey and I would like to write a script for that and create a short film.
