Meet the Aware team: Kay Jin

In this months’ team spotlight our Senior Salesforce Consultant Kay Jin talks about how he defines success, what makes a great Salesforce Consultant and what he would do if he wasn't working in IT.

What do you do at Aware Services and what aspect of your role do you enjoy the most?

I am a Salesforce consultant and primarily focus on CPQ & Billing implementation projects. Helping clients achieve their desired business outcomes is at the heart of everything I do. I enjoy learning about how companies align their working processes to capture information into IT systems, which also helps me in expanding my knowledge on wider IT frameworks.

What makes a great Salesforce Consultant?

Consultants come in many flavours so there is no one-size-fits-all template. Broadly speaking, Salesforce consultants should combine their knowledge of the Salesforce platform with the ability to collaborate. It’s always a good idea to seek discussion with project stakeholders to exchange opinions, brainstorm, or validate ideas.

Importantly, empathy and a commercial mind allow Salesforce consultants to create viable solutions that fit into the customer’s vision.

What would you do if you weren’t working in IT?

I would do something in the non-profit sector. I did some minor volunteer work, and I like helping others.

The great thing about Aware Services is that I get a chance to volunteer and give back to the local community. Aware Services supports Seven Hills High School’s STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) initiatives, and I hope to be involved with helping students as part of this engagement in the future.

How do you define success at work?

Being able to achieve the desired outcome. Having the outcome in mind is fundamental to achieving success.

However, success might mean different things to different people. A solid plan and transparent communication will help ensure that all stakeholders share the same vision and work towards the same goal.

What’s your mantra this year?

Learn, adjust and repeat. Ability to learn continuously and willingness to adapt to change is very important. Living outside of your comfort zone can bring new and often unexpected opportunities for your personal and professional growth.
