Meet the Aware team: Laurent So
With his client-centric approach and excellent technical skills, Laurent goes above and beyond to help our clients achieve their commercial and technical goals in the data & analytics space.
What do you do at Aware Services, and what led you to your career?
I’m a Senior Data Analytics Consultant at Aware Services. During my childhood, my two main hobbies were playing sports and video games. The love for the sport was not enough to secure a spot in the professional world, so I decided to embark on a career in IT and become an engineer after studying for five years at the university in Paris, France.
However, it’s important to say that I really enjoy my career as a Data & Analytics Consultant. The most exciting part of my role is helping clients and that no day is the same!
What makes you a great Data & Analytics Consultant?
Prior to Aware Services, I worked as a full stack developer (e.g. back end to front end) and IT manager. This allowed me to develop versatile skills, which help me to jump over most of the hurdles I face as a consultant.
Every project brings a different challenge. My solution-driven mind leads me towards ‘how can we solve it?’ instead of ‘why we can’t do it’.
Finally, my caring nature is the main factor in building good relationships with clients. I want them to know I’m here to help.
What is the most important thing you have learned in the last five years?
Tableau! Because it allowed me to land a job at Aware Services😊 It’s hard to pick up one thing or one moment from the last five years. Overall, I learnt a lot about people and the significance of empathy.
What’s on your bucket list?
I’m not a big fan of bucket lists as I don’t want my life to be defined by checkboxes that I have to tick. Similarly, I gave up on new year resolutions a long time ago!
Of course, I have many aspirations and want to keep exploring the world. For example, I would like to visit the wonders of the world such as Machu Pichu or Petra to immerse myself in new cultures.
